R56 Mini Cooper Suspension Upgrade
The BC Racing RM Series gives R56 owners greater control over their suspension characteristics, allowing ride height and damping to be configured alongside other handling upgrades such as performance tyres, uprated anti-roll bars, polyurethane bushes, strut braces, adjustable suspension arms and performance alignment settings.
The RM Series is particularly well suited to R56 builds where handling performance is a priority. A properly configured setup can improve body control, steering response and overall chassis balance while allowing the suspension to be developed around the rest of the car.
For predominantly road-driven R56s, we recommend selecting an appropriate spring rate and using sensible ride-height and damping settings. For cars that regularly see track time, the additional adjustability allows the suspension to be developed around tyre choice, alignment and circuit conditions.
After installing coilovers or making significant ride-height changes, we recommend having the vehicle professionally aligned.
RM Series Maintenance Requirements
The increased performance of the RM Series does come with an additional maintenance requirement compared with more conventional coilover designs.
The inverted dampers use a different construction that requires regular inspection and maintenance to keep them performing correctly. This is particularly important on vehicles that see frequent track use or are exposed to harsh road conditions.
Keeping the dampers clean, inspecting them regularly and following BC Racing's recommended maintenance and servicing procedures will help maintain performance and extend the service life of the suspension.
If you're looking for a lower-maintenance setup for predominantly road use, the BC Racing BR or DS Series may be more appropriate depending on your requirements.
