True Rear Coilover Conversion
The main difference between this kit and the standard BC Racing E36 M3 ZX Series setup is the rear suspension layout.
The factory E36 uses a divorced rear arrangement, with the rear spring and damper mounted separately.
With the True Rear configuration, the rear spring is mounted concentrically around the damper to create a complete rear coilover assembly.
This gives the car a more conventional motorsport-style rear suspension layout and can make spring changes and setup development more straightforward on dedicated track cars.
3-Way Damping Adjustment
The defining feature of the ZX Series is its independent 3-way damping adjustment.
The suspension allows separate adjustment of:
- Low-speed compression
- High-speed compression
- Rebound
Low-speed compression can be used to influence body movements such as roll, pitch and weight transfer.
High-speed compression allows the suspension response to bumps, kerbs and sharper surface changes to be tuned separately.
Rebound then controls how quickly the suspension extends again after compression.
