Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs – BMW 1 Series E81 / E87

Sportline is Eibach’s more aggressive lowering spring range, offering a greater drop than the Pro-Kit while retaining progressive spring characteristics and compatibility with suitable factory dampers.

Approximate Lowering
Eibach specifies approximately:
- Front: 45–50mm
- Rear: 35mm
These figures are measured against vehicles with standard, non-sport suspension.
If your BMW is already equipped with factory-lowered suspension, such as an M Sport setup, the additional lowering achieved will be less than the quoted figures.
Sportline Performance
The Sportline range is designed for drivers wanting a more aggressive combination of stance and handling than the Eibach Pro-Kit.

Maximum Axle Loads
This kit is specified for vehicles with maximum permissible axle loads of:
- Front axle: 895kg
- Rear axle: 1060kg
Your vehicle must not exceed these limits.
Checking the axle weights shown on the vehicle identification plate is particularly important because Eibach offers multiple Sportline kits for the E81/E87 platform.
Difference Between -01-22 and -02-22
There are two similar Eibach Sportline applications for the BMW E81/E87.
E20-20-013-01-22:
- Maximum front axle load: 895kg
- Maximum rear axle load: 1060kg
- Intended for selected lighter petrol applications
E20-20-013-02-22:
- Maximum front axle load: 920kg
- Maximum rear axle load: 1060kg
- Used for selected heavier engine applications
Both are listed with approximately 45–50mm front and 35mm rear lowering, but the front spring specification differs to suit the different axle loads.
This is why the kit should not be selected purely from the E81 or E87 chassis code.

Relevant requirements include:
- For vehicles without self-levelling / level control
- Excludes four-wheel-drive vehicles
- Factory-lowered cars achieve less additional lowering

- Installation by a suitably qualified workshop is recommended
Eibach also recommends sport dampers when using Sportline springs where appropriate, particularly when existing OE dampers are worn or have covered significant mileage.
Progressive Spring Design
Sportline springs use progressive characteristics, allowing the effective spring response to increase as suspension loading rises.
This helps provide a usable road setup during normal driving while giving increased support during harder cornering, braking and direction changes.
Factory Damper Compatibility
Eibach lists Sportline springs as suitable for use with stock dampers, subject to the condition and application of the original suspension.
Existing dampers should always be inspected when the springs are installed.
For cars with worn dampers or where a more performance-focused setup is required, matched sport dampers may be worth considering.
