The KW V4 Coilovers for the BMW G87 M2, G80 M3 and G82/G83 M4 are an advanced 3-way adjustable suspension system developed for high-performance road cars where extensive chassis tuning and premium construction are priorities.
Featuring independently adjustable rebound, low-speed compression and high-speed compression damping, the KW V4 provides considerably greater setup flexibility than the V3. KW specifies 16 rebound clicks, 6 low-speed compression clicks and 14 high-speed compression clicks for the Variant 4 system.
3-Way Adjustable Damping
The defining feature of the KW V4 is its 3-way damping adjustment.
Rather than providing a single combined damper control or conventional compression and rebound adjustment, the V4 separates compression damping into low-speed and high-speed ranges.

Reducing rebound can allow the suspension to extend more freely and provide greater compliance where road surfaces are uneven.

6-Click Low-Speed Compression Adjustment
The KW V4 provides six positions of low-speed compression adjustment.
Low-speed compression relates to slower damper movements generated primarily by chassis movements rather than vehicle speed itself.

14-Click High-Speed Compression Adjustment

Electronic Damper Deactivation Included
The G87 M2, G80 M3 and G82/G83 M4 are available with electronically controlled Adaptive M Suspension.
When the factory electronically adjustable dampers are replaced with manually adjustable KW V4 dampers, the original electronic damping system can no longer control suspension stiffness.
The included KW electronic damper deactivation solution disables the original damper-control function and prevents the vehicle from generating errors because the factory electronic dampers are no longer connected.
KW states that its cancellation system deactivates the original damper control while other vehicle control functions remain operational.
Once converted, damping adjustment is carried out manually through the V4 adjusters rather than through the vehicle's factory suspension modes.
Adjustable Ride Height
The KW V4 provides adjustable front and rear ride height within the approved range for the specific application.
Current G80 M3 and G82 M4 application information lists approximately:
- Front lowering: 20–35mm
- Rear lowering: 15–30mm
The G87/G8X application family uses threaded adjustment at the front and an adjustable rear spring arrangement.
Ride height should be selected around suspension travel, tyre clearance and geometry rather than appearance alone.
Excessive lowering can reduce available bump travel and negatively affect suspension geometry, so the lowest possible setting is not necessarily the best-performing setup.
KW INOX-LINE Construction
The KW V4 uses high-quality stainless-steel or application-specific lightweight damper construction depending on the exact vehicle version.
KW's stainless-steel INOX-LINE technology provides excellent corrosion resistance and helps keep threaded adjustment areas serviceable when correctly maintained.

KW V3 vs KW V4
The KW V3 provides independently adjustable compression and rebound damping and is already an extremely capable suspension system for road and fast-road use.
The V4 adds another level of control by separating compression damping into low-speed and high-speed adjustment.
This allows the driver to alter body control independently from the suspension's behaviour over sharper bumps and road inputs.
For most road-focused builds, the V3 provides an excellent balance of performance and simplicity.
