MMX Adjustable Rear Droplink BMW F8x | G8x

MMX Adjustable Rear Droplinks – BMW F8X & G8X M2, M3 & M4

Improve rear anti-roll bar geometry and suspension response on your BMW M car with the MMX Adjustable Rear Droplinks.

Designed for BMW F8X and G8X M2, M3 and M4 applications, these uprated rear sway bar end links replace the factory plastic-bodied droplinks and compliant joints with rigid billet aluminium links and heavy-duty high-articulation ball joints.

The adjustable design allows the effective droplink length to be fine-tuned to suit the vehicle's ride height, helping remove unwanted preload from the rear anti-roll bar and allowing it to operate within its intended range.

This makes the MMX Adjustable Rear Droplinks particularly valuable for lowered cars, height-adjustable spring setups, coilovers and vehicles running upgraded anti-roll bars.

Why Upgrade the Rear Droplinks?

The rear droplinks connect the anti-roll bar to the suspension.

When one rear wheel moves relative to the other, suspension movement is transferred through the droplink and into the anti-roll bar.

The factory links use plastic bodies and compliant joints designed around standard ride height and everyday refinement.

For modified or performance-focused cars, MMX replaces these components with a much more rigid and adjustable design.

Potential benefits include:

• Reduced droplink flex
• More direct anti-roll bar response
• Improved suspension precision
• Adjustable anti-roll bar preload
• Corrected geometry on lowered cars
• More predictable rear axle behaviour
• Better utilisation of upgraded anti-roll bars

Adjustable Anti-Roll Bar Geometry

Ride height affects the position of the suspension relative to the anti-roll bar.

When a vehicle is lowered using springs, height-adjustable springs or coilovers, the factory fixed-length droplinks can alter the resting position of the anti-roll bar.

This can introduce preload into the bar even when the vehicle is sitting on level ground.

The MMX adjustable links allow their length to be altered so that the anti-roll bar can be returned to a neutral position.

What Is Anti-Roll Bar Preload?

Ideally, the anti-roll bar should not be significantly loaded when the car is stationary on level ground.

If the droplink lengths do not correctly match the suspension position, the bar can effectively become twisted before the car even enters a corner.

This is known as anti-roll bar preload.

Unwanted preload can contribute to:

• Uneven handling balance
• Different behaviour in left- and right-hand corners
• Reduced suspension consistency
• Compromised corner weighting
• Less predictable chassis response

Adjustable droplinks allow this preload to be reduced or eliminated as part of a properly configured suspension setup.

Ideal for Lowered BMW M Cars

Adjustable droplinks become particularly useful when the vehicle no longer operates at its factory ride height.

The MMX links are an ideal supporting upgrade for cars fitted with:

• Lowering springs
• Height-adjustable lowering springs
• Coilovers
• Track-focused suspension
• Corner-weighted setups

Once the ride height has been changed, the droplink length can be adjusted to optimise the rear anti-roll bar position.

In-Situ Adjustment

One of the most useful features of the MMX design is the ability to alter the link length while the droplink remains installed.

The single-threaded-end arrangement makes adjustment significantly easier than designs that require the link to be repeatedly disconnected, adjusted and reinstalled.

This is especially useful during:

• Ride-height setup
• Corner weighting
• Geometry adjustment
• Track preparation

It allows the anti-roll bar to be neutralised more accurately and with less setup time.

Billet 6061-T6 Aluminium Construction

The MMX rear droplinks are manufactured from billet 6061-T6 aluminium.

This provides a rigid and durable replacement for the factory plastic-bodied components.

The greater rigidity reduces flex between the suspension and anti-roll bar, allowing suspension movement to be transferred into the bar more directly.

Reduced Flex

Any flex within the droplink absorbs some of the movement that would otherwise be transferred to the anti-roll bar.

By replacing the more compliant factory components with rigid billet links, MMX helps create a more direct mechanical connection.

Potential benefits include:

• Faster anti-roll bar response
• More consistent chassis behaviour
• Improved feedback
• Greater precision under load

Heavy-Duty High-Articulation Ball Joints

Each MMX droplink uses heavy-duty, high-articulation ball joints.

These replace the factory joint arrangement and are designed to provide the movement required by the suspension while maintaining a precise connection.

The high-articulation design is especially important on lowered or track-focused vehicles where suspension operating angles can differ from the original setup.

Rubber-Protected Joints

The ball joints are protected by rubber boots.

These help keep road contamination, dirt and moisture away from the moving joint surfaces.

This improves suitability for vehicles that see regular road use as well as track driving.

Works with the Factory Anti-Roll Bar

The MMX Adjustable Rear Droplinks can be used with the original BMW rear anti-roll bar.

This means an upgraded anti-roll bar is not required to benefit from the adjustable links.

For lowered cars retaining the factory sway bar, correcting the droplink length can still help restore the anti-roll bar to a more appropriate operating position.

Works with Aftermarket Anti-Roll Bars

The links can also be used with compatible aftermarket rear anti-roll bars.

This makes them particularly useful alongside stiffer performance sway bars.

When installing an upgraded anti-roll bar, minimising droplink flex and correctly setting preload helps ensure that the new bar can operate as intended.

Ideal Supporting Upgrade for Anti-Roll Bars

An anti-roll bar upgrade changes the roll stiffness of the axle.

However, the effectiveness of that bar depends on how accurately suspension movement is transferred into it.

Pairing a performance anti-roll bar with rigid adjustable droplinks helps create a more complete system.

Corner-Weighting Benefits

For track-focused cars, adjustable droplinks are particularly valuable when corner weighting the suspension.

Corner weighting involves adjusting the distribution of vehicle weight across each wheel.

The anti-roll bars should ideally be neutral during this process.

If a fixed droplink introduces preload, it can affect the corner-weight readings and compromise the final setup.

Adjustable links allow the rear anti-roll bar to be neutralised once the ride height and corner weights have been established.

Sharper Rear Axle Response

By reducing compliance between the suspension and anti-roll bar, the MMX links can help produce a more immediate response when the rear suspension begins to roll.

This can contribute to a rear axle that feels:

• More precise
• More consistent
• Better connected
• More predictable during direction changes

The difference is especially relevant on cars with other performance suspension modifications.

Road & Fast-Road Use

Although developed with performance use in mind, the MMX droplinks are not limited to dedicated track cars.

They are also a useful upgrade for road cars fitted with lowered suspension.

Typical applications include:

• Daily-driven lowered M cars
• Weekend performance cars
• Fast-road builds
• Height-adjustable spring setups
• Cars with upgraded anti-roll bars

Track-Day Use

For track cars, adjustable rear droplinks become an important suspension setup tool rather than simply a stronger replacement component.

They allow the anti-roll bar setup to complement:

• Corner weighting
• Coilover ride heights
• Track geometry
• Adjustable anti-roll bars
• Wider performance tyres
• Higher levels of mechanical grip

Direct Replacement

The MMX links are designed as complete replacements for the original rear droplinks.

No cutting or permanent chassis modification is required.

This also means the car can be returned to the original factory setup later if required.

Professional Setup Recommended

Installation itself is relatively straightforward, but the main benefit of an adjustable droplink comes from setting it correctly.

For lowered or track-focused cars, professional suspension setup is recommended.

Ideally, adjustment should be carried out with:

• The vehicle at its final ride height
• Correct tyre pressures
• Normal operating weight
• Suspension settled
• Vehicle positioned on a level setup surface

For corner-weighted cars, droplink adjustment should form part of the final chassis setup.
