MMX Chargepipe Kit – BMW B58 M140i, M240i, 340i & 440i

Improve boost reliability, airflow and throttle response on your B58-powered BMW with the MMX Chargepipe Kit.

Designed for BMW F-Series models including the M140i, M240i, 340i and 440i, the MMX high-flow chargepipe kit replaces the factory plastic pipework with lightweight aluminium components engineered to withstand increased boost pressure and higher engine outputs.

The smooth-bore mandrel-bent design also improves the airflow path compared with the original system, while the rigid aluminium construction prevents the pipework from deforming under load or vacuum.

For standard and tuned B58 builds alike, the MMX Chargepipe Kit is a valuable reliability-focused upgrade and an ideal supporting modification for increased boost and performance tuning.

Why Upgrade the Factory B58 Chargepipes?

The factory BMW chargepipe system uses plastic pipework.

While suitable for standard road use, increasing boost pressure and engine output can place additional stress on these components.

MMX highlights cracking and splitting of the factory pipework as a potential source of boost leaks as performance increases.

Replacing the original components with aluminium chargepipes helps provide:

• Improved boost reliability
• Greater resistance to cracking
• Reduced risk of boost leaks
• More consistent airflow
• Improved throttle response
• Better support for increased power

Stronger Aluminium Construction

One of the main benefits of the MMX Chargepipe Kit is replacing the factory plastic components with lightweight aluminium alternatives.

Plastic chargepipes can become a weak point as boost pressure rises.

A damaged or split chargepipe can result in:

• Boost leaks
• Sudden loss of power
• Reduced throttle response
• Engine warning lights
• Limp mode
• Inconsistent performance

The aluminium MMX pipework provides a substantially more robust solution for standard and modified B58 engines.

Designed for Increased Boost

The MMX Chargepipe Kit is particularly relevant for tuned B58 applications.

Increasing boost pressure places additional load on the complete charge-air system, making stronger pipework increasingly important.

The MMX kit is suitable for applications such as:

• Standard B58 engines
• Stage 1 tuned cars
• Stage 2 builds
• Higher-boost setups
• Upgraded turbo applications
• Fast-road builds
• Track-day cars

Even on a standard car, upgrading the chargepipes can provide an additional level of preventative reliability.

Smooth-Bore Mandrel-Bent Pipework

MMX uses smooth-bore mandrel-bent aluminium pipework.

Mandrel bending allows the pipe to maintain a more consistent internal cross-section through its bends rather than introducing sharp restrictions.

The smoother internal pathway helps promote more efficient airflow through the charge-air system.

Potential benefits include:

• Reduced turbulence
• Reduced restriction
• Improved boost delivery
• Better throttle response
• More consistent airflow at higher loads

Prevents Pipe Deformation

The rigid aluminium construction also prevents the pipework from deforming under pressure, load or vacuum.

Maintaining a consistent internal diameter helps ensure that airflow remains predictable even as engine demand increases.

This becomes particularly important on tuned cars operating at higher boost pressures.

Improved Throttle Response

MMX specifically highlights improved throttle response as one of the benefits of the B58 chargepipe kit.

By providing smoother airflow and preventing deformation within the charge system, the engine can respond more consistently to changes in throttle demand.

The benefit is particularly relevant on fast-road and tuned applications.

Supports Increased Engine Performance

A chargepipe kit is primarily a reliability and airflow upgrade rather than a standalone power modification.

However, reducing airflow restriction and preventing boost leaks helps ensure the turbocharging system can operate efficiently as power output increases.

This makes the MMX kit an ideal supporting modification for performance tuning.

1/8-Inch Auxiliary Bung

The MMX B58 Chargepipe Kit includes a 1/8-inch auxiliary bung.

This provides a convenient connection point for systems such as:

• Water injection
• Methanol injection
• Water/methanol injection

The integrated provision removes the need to modify the pipework later if an injection system is added.

Water / Methanol Injection Compatibility

Water and methanol injection systems are sometimes used on higher-performance turbocharged builds to support intake-temperature management and more aggressive engine calibrations.

The MMX chargepipe provides a ready-made connection point for these systems.

Any water or methanol injection setup should be installed and calibrated by an experienced specialist.

Included Connection Seals

MMX supplies the required seals to provide accurate and consistent connections.

Correct sealing throughout the charge-air system is essential because even a relatively small leak can cause:

• Lost boost pressure
• Reduced engine performance
• Poor throttle response
• Engine-management faults

The supplied seals help provide a complete installation package.

Full OE Replacement

The MMX Chargepipe Kit is designed as a direct replacement for the original BMW pipework.

No cutting, welding or permanent modification is required.

This allows the upgrade to retain OEM-style mounting and connection points while replacing the weaker plastic components.

Fully Reversible

Because no permanent modifications are required, the factory BMW pipework can be reinstalled later if desired.

This makes the MMX system suitable for owners who want improved performance and reliability without permanently altering the vehicle.

Durable Crinkle-Black Finish

The aluminium pipework is finished in a durable crinkle-black coating.

Laser-etched MMX branding provides a subtle finishing detail.

The result is a chargepipe kit that offers:

• Improved durability
• OEM-style appearance
• Better engine-bay presentation
• Additional surface protection

Ideal with an Upgraded Intake

The MMX Chargepipe Kit works particularly well as part of a broader B58 airflow upgrade.

It can be combined with:

• MMX Performance Intake Kit
• MMX Silicone Intake Hose
• MMX high-flow panel filter
• Performance turbo inlet components
• ECU tuning

Improving both the intake and pressurised charge-air paths can help support higher-output engine builds more effectively.

Ideal with an Upgraded Cooling System

Charge-air temperature management becomes increasingly important as boost rises.

The MMX chargepipe kit can complement upgrades such as:

• Improved charge cooling
• Performance intercooler or charge-cooler components where applicable
• Additional cooling upgrades
• Water/methanol injection

For heavily tuned B58 builds, airflow and temperature management should be considered together.
