MMX Height Adjustable Lowering Spring | BMW F8x M2 | M3 | M4

MMX Height Adjustable Lowering Springs – BMW F87 M2, F80 M3 & F82/F83 M4

Gain precise control over the stance and ride height of your BMW F8X M car with the MMX Height Adjustable Lowering Spring Kit.

Designed for the BMW F87 M2 and M2 Competition, F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4, this system combines progressive performance springs with adjustable spring platforms, allowing the ride height to be tailored to suit your road, fast-road or track-focused setup.

Unlike a complete coilover system, the MMX kit retains the factory dampers while giving you the freedom to fine-tune ride height and stance.

This makes it an ideal choice for owners who want more flexibility than conventional lowering springs without replacing the entire factory suspension system.

Why Choose MMX Height Adjustable Lowering Springs?

Fixed lowering springs provide a predetermined drop.

Height-adjustable springs offer much greater control.

The MMX system allows you to:

• Reduce ride height
• Fine-tune front and rear stance
• Adjust rake
• Improve wheel-to-arch fitment
• Lower the vehicle around aftermarket wheels
• Retain factory dampers
• Retain factory adaptive damping where applicable
• Avoid the complexity of a full coilover conversion

For many road and fast-road builds, this provides the ideal middle ground between fixed lowering springs and full coilovers.

Adjustable Ride Height

The biggest advantage of the MMX system over conventional lowering springs is adjustability.

Rather than being locked into one fixed drop, the spring platforms allow ride height to be altered to suit the car.

This gives you much greater control over:

• Final ride height
• Front-to-rear rake
• Wheel arch gap
• Clearance
• Visual stance

This flexibility is especially useful on cars with aftermarket wheels, tyres or spacers.

Fine-Tune the Stance

Two cars running the same lowering spring kit can look very different depending on:

• Wheel size
• Tyre profile
• Wheel offset
• Spacer thickness
• Vehicle specification
• Individual corner weights

Height-adjustable springs allow these differences to be accounted for.

The ride height can be set to create a more balanced and purposeful stance rather than relying on a fixed spring drop.

Retains the Factory Dampers

Unlike coilovers, the MMX Height Adjustable Spring Kit retains the original BMW damper assemblies.

This provides several benefits:

• Factory damping characteristics remain
• Lower installation complexity
• No requirement to replace functioning dampers
• OEM-quality refinement can be retained
• Lower cost than many complete coilover systems

For owners who are happy with the factory damping but want greater control over ride height, this is a very attractive solution.

Retains Adaptive Damping Where Applicable

On vehicles equipped with adaptive suspension, the original electronically controlled dampers can remain in place.

This means the factory damping modes can continue to function while the mechanical ride height is reduced.

For road-driven F8X cars, this is one of the major advantages of choosing a height-adjustable spring system rather than replacing the dampers with non-electronic coilovers.

Progressive Spring Rates

MMX uses progressive spring rates to balance comfort and chassis control.

At lower loads, the initial section of the spring provides greater compliance.

As suspension load increases under braking and cornering, the effective spring rate rises.

This can help provide:

• Better body control
• Reduced roll
• Improved turn-in
• More stable weight transfer
• Retained road comfort

For fast-road use, progressive springs can offer a better compromise than an excessively stiff linear setup.

Lower Centre of Gravity

Reducing ride height lowers the vehicle’s centre of gravity.

This can help reduce the amount of body movement generated during:

• Cornering
• Braking
• Acceleration
• Direction changes

The result can be a more composed and responsive chassis.

Improved Turn-In

A lower, more controlled front end can help the F8X respond more immediately to steering inputs.

Combined with the progressive spring rates, the MMX kit can help provide:

• Sharper turn-in
• Better steering response
• More direct chassis feel
• Greater confidence during fast road driving

Improved Wheel Fitment

Height-adjustable springs are especially useful for vehicles running aftermarket wheel setups.

Owners can tailor ride height around:

• Wider wheels
• Wider tyres
• Different offsets
• Wheel spacers
• Staggered fitments

This makes it easier to achieve the desired visual stance while maintaining usable tyre clearance.

MMX Height Adjustable Springs vs Fixed Lowering Springs

Fixed lowering springs are ideal for customers who want:

• Simple installation
• Predetermined ride height
• Lower purchase cost
• No adjustment required

MMX Height Adjustable Lowering Springs are better suited to owners who want:

• Control over final ride height
• Adjustable rake
• Better wheel fitment
• Ability to revise the stance later
• More flexibility for future modifications

If exact stance matters, the height-adjustable system is generally the stronger choice.

MMX Height Adjustable Springs vs Coilovers

A full coilover kit replaces the springs and dampers and may provide additional damping adjustment.

However, not every road car needs that level of suspension control.

The MMX system allows you to retain the factory dampers while gaining adjustable ride height.

This makes it ideal for owners who prioritise:

• Factory damper retention
• Adaptive suspension functionality
• Road refinement
• Adjustable stance
• Simpler setup than coilovers

For dedicated track cars where damping adjustment is a priority, a full coilover kit may still be the better option.

Ideal for Fast-Road Builds

The MMX Height Adjustable Spring Kit works particularly well alongside upgrades such as:

• Performance tyres
• Lightweight wheels
• Wheel spacers
• Adjustable suspension arms
• Uprated anti-roll bars
• Chassis braces
• Performance alignment

Once the ride height is set correctly, a quality alignment can help make the most of the revised suspension geometry.

Suitable for Occasional Track Use

Although primarily road and fast-road focused, height-adjustable springs can also work well for occasional track use.

The adjustable ride height can help optimise:

• Stance
• Centre of gravity
• Wheel clearance
• Geometry

For more serious track use, coilovers with damping adjustment may provide a greater level of control.

BMW F87 M2

The MMX Height Adjustable Lowering Spring Kit is suitable for the BMW F87 M2.

It provides a more flexible alternative to fixed lowering springs while retaining the factory dampers.

BMW F87 M2 Competition

The S55-powered F87 M2 Competition is also compatible.

This makes the kit suitable for owners who want to improve stance and chassis response without replacing the complete suspension system.

BMW F80 M3

The MMX kit is compatible with the BMW F80 M3.

For road and fast-road builds, it provides a useful combination of adjustable stance and factory damper retention.

BMW F82 / F83 M4

The system is also suitable for the BMW F82 M4 Coupe and F83 M4 Convertible.

Owners can tailor ride height to match wheel fitment, suspension setup and intended use.

Professional Installation Recommended

Professional installation is recommended.

The spring platforms should be installed correctly and the ride height set evenly across the vehicle.

After installation, the car should receive a full four-wheel alignment.

Four-Wheel Alignment

Lowering a vehicle changes suspension geometry.

After fitting the MMX kit, alignment should be checked and adjusted.

Important settings include:

• Front toe
• Rear toe
• Camber
• Steering wheel alignment

A correct setup helps ensure predictable handling and minimise uneven tyre wear.

Wheel & Tyre Clearance

Ride height should always be set with wheel and tyre clearance in mind.

Final clearance depends on:

• Wheel width
• Offset
• Tyre size
• Spacer thickness
• Camber
• Steering lock
• Suspension travel

Aggressive fitments should be checked carefully throughout the suspension’s full range of movement.
